Q: What is Asciifier?
A: Asciifier is a browser extension for Firefox and Chrome that allows you to turn any image into ascii art via your right-click menu
Q: Why did you make this?
A: I've liked ASCII art for many years, and with my past research into computer vision I needed some sort of scaffolding, and thus Asciifier was born
Q: Does it cost anything?
A: Nope, and you can find the code on Github here
Q: Why do I have to access my art through asciifierapp.com?
A: My original intention was to display the ascii art on-demand in a new window, but due to certain limitations of the Crossrider platform I cannot open new windows and insert arbitrary HTML
Q: All of the large images I try are TOO big, what should I do?
A: I am aware of this issue, and in version two I plan to make this multi-resolution, and have now downsampled all images to maximum 800px wide to avoid images that are TOO huge (though they are still quite large)
Q: Sometimes the image has trailing characters?
A: I'm working with Crossrider to figure this one out; this doesn't happen in the staging version of the app This should be fixed, please send an email below with related information if you find this is still a problem
For all questions, comments, bug reports, poems, etc., please email asciifierapp@gmail.com and I'll do my best to reply promptly.
